  • It’s on Sunday, July 30th, 2023 from 2pm to 5pm*

    The timing of this event has shifted by one hour due to a change in venue.

  • The Fat Pool Party will be held at two outdoor pools on the Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall School campus in Waltham, MA. The entrance is at 785 Beaver St, Waltham, MA.

    1. If you drive, there is ample parking on site. The address is 785 Beaver St, Waltham, MA - take the first right after entering campus. Check out our parking map here.

    2. If you take public transit, the Alewife T station is 6 miles away. We are providing a shuttle from outside the Sunrise Learning Academy (Steel Pl. side) to and from the pool, before and after the party, but not during. Multiple trips can be made if necessary. Please note if you may need the shuttle during ticket checkout; we’ll confirm with you via email a week beforehand.

  • All bodies are welcome, inclusive of size, gender, ethnicity, color and/or creed.

    However, because of our insurance policy, everyone must be over 13 years of age.

    We encourage those in the most marginalized bodies to come! We believe diversity benefits all of us.

  • Entry to the pool party, where we’ll have snacks, beverages, tunes and good times in a fat liberation atmosphere!

  • Please bring a towel, sunscreen, sunglasses and anything else needed to make yourself comfortable outside in July.

    You might also consider bringing

    • Fat-friendly seating

    • Inflatables (we will have 2 pumps on site!)

    • Food - either snacks for yourself or something to share!

    • Games

    • Pool toys

    • Hand fans or cooling devices

    • Picnic blankets

    • Coolers - bring your own ice!

  • Alcohol, glass, weapons, drugs or pets.

  • There are two outdoor pools available to us, both treated with chlorine. There is a six-lane, standard-sized competition pool as well as a second shallow learner’s pool with a zero-entry ramp. The competition pool is 3-9 ft deep with step and ladder entries, while the zero-entry pool is 2-3ft deep with a ramp.

  • Unless the weather is dangerous, we’ll be there!

  • Access to both pools is paved and level. The lower pool (deep) has steps with railings to enter the water, as well as a chair lift. The upper pool (shallow) has an entry ramp with railings.

    There are accessible toilets and changing spaces adjacent to both pools.

    Lifeguards will be on duty. Swim at your own risk.

  • This is an outdoor event with ample space, so masks are not required, but are encouraged.

  • Yep! Six life guards will be on site.

  • Please choose the tier you feel is most appropriate for yourself, considering how marginalized your body is and how much privilege you hold.

    We’re working on the honor system here, folks.

  • We have space for 200 ticketholders and 15 volunteers.

  • The Fat Pool Party is organized by Bigger Bodies Boston, a collection of local fat liberation activists.

    Any funds received over the cost of the pool party will be directed to cover the costs associated with this website and/or future events.
